Ajay Upasani, born on June 22 , 1962, in Varanasi, is a distinguished artist with a rich academic background. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degrees from Banaras Hindu University in 1987 and 1989, respectively. In 2001, he achieved the U.G.C. (NET) qualification.

Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including a merit scholarship in M.F.A. and awards such as the first prize in a sketch competition at the Faculty of Visual Arts, B.H.U., in 1981. Notably, he was honored with the “Best Work of the Year” award by Mahakoshal Kala Parishad Raipur in 1993.

His participation in various national and regional art exhibitions, including the  National Exhibition of Art by Lalit Kala Akademi in 1996, 98,2004. demonstrates his significant presence in the art community. He has also been part of prestigious International & National artist camps and workshops, contributing to the cultural enrichment of the community.

In addition to his artistic achievements, he has organized visual arts workshops and served as an organizer for events such as “Kala-Ganga,” a national artist camp by Ganga Mahasabha in Mahakumbh Prayagraj 2019.

With 6 solo exhibitions at prominent venues and inclusion in esteemed directories like the Lalit Kala Akademi’s Artists Directory, his work has been recognized and showcased widely.
